Tokyo agrees to Ari-no-Machi's move to No. 8 Reclaimed Land
In January 1958 (Shōwa 33), Tokyo Metropolis fully accepted Ari-no-Kai's demands, and Ari-no-Machi's move to No. 8 Reclaimed Land was decided.
Tokyo Metropolis asked Ari-no-Machi to move and offered about 5,000 tsubo on No. 8 Reclaimed Land as an alternative site, on condition that ¥25 million for the land be paid in cash. In the end the Metropolis fully accepted Ari-no-Kai's demand of "¥15 million for the land, paid in instalments over five years" (Wikipedia).
Sources differ on the date of the agreement. The Tokyo Archdiocese gives 19 January 1958, and Wikipedia 20 January 1958 (exactly eight years after Ari-no-Kai was founded). Satoko Kitahara died shortly afterwards, on 23 January, aged 28.
