The Japan Catholic Center is completed and the Bishops' Conference moves in
In 1992 the secretariat of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Japan moved from Rokubanchō, Chiyoda-ku, to the Japan Catholic Center in Shiomi (completed November 1992).
According to the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Japan, its secretariat was formerly in an old three-storey building in Rokubanchō, Chiyoda-ku; it moved in 1992 and came to be housed in the eight-storey Japan Catholic Center in Shiomi (completed November 1992). Next door is Shiomi Church, associated with Satoko Kitahara.
The Tokyo Archdiocese News (2004) records that the building was built on the former site of Ari-no-Kai. The Bishops' Conference has not stated why it chose Shiomi.
