Catholic Edagawa Church (Ari-no-Machi Church) is founded

A chapel was built on No. 8 Reclaimed Land from the old timber of Senzoku Church, and the church began anew as Edagawa Church together with the people of Ari-no-Machi.

According to the Tokyo Archdiocese News of 1975, through the good offices of Cardinal Frings and Archbishop Doi, in Shōwa 35 (1960) a chapel was built from the old timber of Senzoku Church on "the island of garbage, No. 8 Reclaimed Land, now Shiomi-chō", and the church moved there together with the people of Ari-no-Machi and began anew as Edagawa Church. The archdiocese gives June 1960 as the month of its founding.

The church was called "Catholic Edagawa Church (Ari-no-Machi Church)" and was a branch church of Tsukiji Church. The "Arinko Nursery" was attached to it for the children of Ari-no-Machi and the surrounding area (it closed in 1977).
